Ateneo Debate Society

I heard from friends that there's a blog entry going around the debate circuit that says bad things about a lot of people in particular, some members of the Ateneo Debate Society (ADS), the most awarded debate organization in the whole Philippines that keeps winning everything!! The blog from what I heard was made by a person who is so bitter because he can never beat the idols in ADS even if he thinks he can and has no credibility. So the most he can do is insult them because his debate career will never reach the level of the people in ADS who he is saying very bad things about. I don't understand why if he has problems he cannot wait to level off with them in debate instead of posting on a blog that everyone can read anyway. Maybe because he knows he will loose.

The people in ADS are competitive they say. Sometimes, some of them can maybe be snobbish and maybe they don't really mingle when there are tournaments. But I think it is because many of them think in a different way from other people that's why they get along. And even if they are competitive, you can see the bond that there is in among their top varsity members. And they help people who want to learn to be good like them. That's why they have Debate Education. Because they care about others. Especially those who idolize them and want to be as good as them.

So in this post, I will say good things about some ADS people. Some were mentioned in the stupid blog. Some are not.

Gica Mangahas is a very good debater. She listens. And she is very sharp. So sharp that she has two national titles in her belt. Like Miko Biscocho who is my idol. I think the two of them can have a romance, it will be so cute. But they say she is single in Facebook.They are teammates all the time and Gica in in NDC in PMA before when she was a freshie was already very good as whip.

Miko Biscocho is very nice and friendly. Even if he has many, many debate achievements. It is too bad he has not yet made it in the Worlds but he made everything. He has two Nationals titles also and one in the PIDC. Everyone admires him because he is cute and approachable at all times. Although he is a champion, he talks to people outside ADS. My partner asked before if he has a girlfriend. There is none. So, ladies, he's available.

Shiveena Parmananad is I know the sister of Sharm. She has to live up to a legend and she is doing a good job. She won the PIDC last year and she is in the Top Ten of the NDC. I am sad she did not break in the last one. Her team deserved to break. I don't know her well and I only saw her in the PIDC debate but she is strong and in Asia also. Is she single? My friend told me that she looks like her sister although I don't think so but she is pretty but very quiet. What year is she in?

Pauline Gairanod is from the same school as Sharmila and Shiveena but even if she is not from Manila, she is very good. She won the PIDC last year with Shiveena and I saw her in the Grand finals of NDC in Baguio and she has good achievements. She is also very friendly to other schools espeicially those from provinces maybe because she has sympathy. Is she single also? One cadet I met in the PMA said she is pretty but they say she has a boyfriend in debate? And she looks so strict sometimes so hard to approach.

Sharmila Parmanand is the ultimate idol. If Miko is the idol, she is twice the idol. She is beautiful and very intelligent and everyone admires her kindness. She goes to different schools to teach them how to debate. She won so many titles it's hard to count. From NDC to PIDC to Asians to Worlds she is so good and popular. She is the face of Philippine debate. But she is In A Relationship. I am sure many people are sadened by this because she is a catch. She is the inspiration and aspiration of many in the debate community. She is very friendly so people do not think twice when asking her questions about debate. She is so smart she knows a lot about any topic.

Steph Co is someone I knew about when she debated in NDC PMA where she was good also. She seems very friendly but shy. She does not have a boyfriend. She is not like other ADS people who are agressive. She is very quiet in rounds because she concentrates. But she is very popular because she does well in Asia.

Ely Zosa was insulted in the blog. I don't really know her but she is good also. She was partners with Steph in the NDC in Davao and she was MG. She is like the oldest in ADS so maybe she has many experiences. They say she is mataray but she is good. I think that's what matters.

Leloy Claudio is THE Leloy Claudio. He is cute and smart. He is valedictorian of Ateneo. He is not in the Philippines anymore but his achievements are popular. He is the peer of Sharmila and they are good friends. I do not know if he is nice but everyone likes him. He has a girlfriend who is also his peer in debate. So sorry girls, he is taken.

I wish I were a member of the ADS. They have the smartest brains in Philippine debate. So they are the organization to beat. We cannot insult them because they have integrity in the Philippines, in Asia, in the World. But we can try to be like them.
